All Students Deserve Success
CESA 6 Alternative K-12 Education Programs provide positive support with curricular alternatives to meet students' individual needs, abilities, and interests. Small student-to-staff ratios offer flexible learning and innovative opportunities to succeed.
Holistic Education Support
Alternative schools strive to create safe, positive, and responsive learning environments. By identifying and implementing effective interventions and academic/behavior supports, students can develop the necessary skills to successfully transition back to their home schools.
-
Individualized Learning Experience
The Alternative Education Centers offer a non-traditional classroom environment to adapt to each student’s needs. These alternative settings provide small student-to-teacher ratios for more direct engagement while also providing Positive Support Programs with curricular alternatives designed to meet students' individual needs, abilities, and interests.
-
Encouraging Participation and Confidence
Students will progress in his/her self-care, pre-vocational, and functional skills to be able to participate in school expectations and activities. Students are provided a variety of behavioral, sensory, coping, and regulation needs that cannot effectively be dealt with in a traditional school setting.
-
Develop Foundational Skills for Future Success
Students will develop academic skills needed in the areas of language arts, math, science, and social studies at their own pace while accommodating their needs. As an additional program benefit, students will also have access to a Behavior and Wellness coach to develop different regulation strategies across settings, assist families with community programs, and access volunteer opportunities.
-
Behavioral and Emotional Coaching
Family support is critical to student success. Coaching can facilitate learning in social and emotional skills and assist students in their lives in and outside the classroom. One-on-one and small group engagement will foster life and work skills for older students while also offering behavioral strategies to children of all ages. Behavior and Wellness coaches are also available for meetings to discuss with parents how they can best support their child.
School Locations
To best serve students in our 39 public school districts, we facilitate two alternative education schools to support children with individual needs to assist them in their educational journey. We ensure that all districts have the opportunity to provide their students with an alternative education program, no matter where they are in our service area. These two education centers serve our northern and southern regions, providing much-needed education paths for students.
