Residency In Teacher Education
The CESA 6 Residency in Teacher Education (RITE) program supports educators in obtaining teaching licensure in Wisconsin. It offers programs for aspiring educators seeking their first license (initial licensure) and for licensed educators who want to add certification in a new subject area (additional licensure).
RITE Initial Teacher Licensure
The CESA 6 RITE Initial Licensure Program is designed for individuals who want to become teachers and already hold a bachelor's degree. This proficiency-based, flexible program provides the training and support needed to obtain your initial teaching license. Whether you are starting a new career or transitioning from another field, the RITE program helps you achieve your goal of becoming a licensed educator.
RITE Additional Teacher Licensure
The CESA 6 RITE Additional Licensure Program is designed for licensed educators looking to expand their teaching credentials. The program is flexible, cost-effective, and can be completed in less than a year, making it easy to balance with your current teaching responsibilities. Boost your qualifications and open new doors in your teaching career with minimal time and expense.
Statutory License Stipulations
Having statutory stipulations on a Wisconsin educator license means the applicant must meet certain legal requirements, such as completing specific education or demonstrating competence in certain areas. These stipulations often apply to those who completed educator preparation programs outside Wisconsin or a route to licensure that did not involve completing an educator preparation program. CESA6 provides support in removing statutory stipulation requirements.
Supportive Learning for Educators
To assist Educators who are required to complete Statutory License Stipulations, CESA 6 offers Independent Study Modules. Each module takes approximately 10 hours to complete. Participants have 60 days from the date of purchase to complete and submit all stipulation work. All modules are completed online and include any necessary materials and resources.
Substitute Teacher Training
Wisconsin school districts need and want to hire and retain qualified substitute teachers. To be issued a three-year, short-term substitute teacher license, an individual must hold an Associate’s degree or higher and receive DPI-approved training. CESA 6 training is geared toward those new to Substitute Teaching and/or those interested in growing their skills as a Substitute Teacher for work throughout Wisconsin.
Step Up to Teach
The CESA 6 substitute teacher training will teach and engage prospective substitute teachers in activities that mirror real classroom situations. Training instructors will model various teaching strategies that substitute teachers can use in the classroom. Additionally, participants will gain a deeper understanding of effective teaching principles to prepare for future substitute teaching assignments.
Supervision of Teacher Candidate Training
Teachers interested in mentoring aspiring educators can use this Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction approved training program to help shape the next generation of teachers.
Becoming a Cooperating Teacher
Participating in this comprehensive training module helps prepare future educators. The content covers the role of cooperating teachers, the supervision process, and evaluation expectations. After all modules are completed and reviewed, documentation will be provided to verify eligibility as a cooperating teacher in Wisconsin.
